Hip-hop ‘212’ rapper Azealia Banks has had her fair share of beef on Twitter, but another thing that gives her audience a cause to double-take is her courageous and wild fashion sense. Banks changes her clothes as fast as she refreshes her Twitter feuds, whoops, I mean feeds...! She recently attended the Life Ball in a two-piece catsuit. Clearly this feline is not one to be messed with. Still, I'm not sure that she was aiming to look like a furball. Meouch!
Azealia claims to stay ‘true to this s***’ with her feet on the ground. However, in her song ‘1991’ claims that she is the “Illumina Princess/, with a pyramid one-eye on [her] assets”. I think she’s referring to the dress she wore to the BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend – though the effect was somewhat spoilt by a poorly placed dull blue leather jacket. 2/10 for Banks.
Her weave is also ever-changing, but I love it black or brown— it just makes her a whole lot classier. Even when it’s, uh, deep sea green…
Banks has been embracing her inner ‘Aquababe’ by wearing vast amounts of Sea-Punk especially in one of her latest videos, ‘Atlantis’ – a tie-in to her mix-tape, FANTASEA which is available for download.
Azealia has had her fair share of fashion disasters, but kudos to her for trying. Her Tom Ford glasses sit nicely and a well-tailored suit really compliments her body, but I think she needs to work through her current phase of tinting her eyebrows red and dying her hair brown instead of deep crimson.
Banks’ 1991 EP is available to download on iTunes, along with her latest single, ‘Yung Rapunxel’. Her debut album, Broke with Expensive Taste, is set for release later this year. Keep it up, A – we’re all excited.
